[What? ... no, he has to be imagining things. There's no way he could mistake that voice for anyone else's.

He goes through a lot of emotions and thoughts before he responds several minutes later.]

Who is this?

[Like he doesn't know. He just isn't sure if he wants to believe it or not.]

[Did he forget about him? It worried Yu and he didn't want to do anything rash.]

[Okay, just take a deep breath, Shinju. It's just a text message. You can handle this. ... even if not much else.]

We played games during a black out, you helped me from my nightmare in October, the one who got me that plush of Makami. I think you kind of threw it at me.

[That last part had a little bit of a warm chuckle as he remembered it.]

[When he gets the confirmation, he should feel happy or excited, but all he can manage is dread. Like if he dares to feel hope, it'll just get taken away again.

He takes several minutes before responding again.]

[He's silent for a bit. Did...was he affected that much? A part wanted to screw everything but he knows better. A friend might check to see if they're ok but a true friend knows when to give them space.]

Inside Shinju's mailbox sits a package wrapped in stripey red wrapping paper. The tag on top has "Merry Christmas, Shinju! :) - Pilouette" written on it in cutesy handwriting.

Inside the package are a few mystery novels and wrapped around them is this shirt that Pilouette for some reason thought was legitimately fashionable, cool and not at all weird.
